Is this cat fat?

Is this cat fat?
I can’t say where… but at a family member’s house in NJ, there lives a VERY large cat. These pictures cannot even come close to exhibiting just how large this cat is. He is tall, long, has huge feet and a rather large amount of “skin” that hangs from his belly. In my opinion…...

I’m still here…

I’m just enjoying some “sister time” with my baby sister and her daughter. They are in town for the week. I’ll try to catch up tomorrow… as I DO have some interesting things to share with you.See you soon!

I’m in NJ for the night…

And don’t have access to wireless… so I’ll be back tomorrow!

So what did I make for our big Inauguration Dinner?

So what did I make for our big Inauguration Dinner?
Nada… I just reheated leftovers! The previous night, I had purchases a nice slab of salmon and, wanting to use up the Meyer Lemons I bought, decided to oven roast it with some olive oil, lemons and seasoning. I rubbed the fish down with olive oil, gave it a good dose of fresh-ground sea salt and...

I never win anything — Well… except for this…
I got a cool email yesterday. It seems one of the blog rolls I belong to — The Foodie Blogroll, runs weekly contests, awarding participants free goods. I didn’t even know I was a participant… until I won! I got an email from the site admin and founder Jenn — The Leftover Queen...

In a pickle… a half-sour one (that is)

In a pickle… a half-sour one (that is)
I love “half sour” pickles. They are not that easy to find though. Manishevitz makes them, but they aren’t as good as homemade ones and then tend to “ripen” too fast… loosing the bright green hue and super crispy flesh found only in a fresh cucumber.Whenever I head...

Edamame, Celery, Bean Sprout and Candied Buddha’s Hand Slaw

Edamame, Celery, Bean Sprout and Candied Buddha’s Hand Slaw
I went to Russo’s again this morning and was sitting around this afternoon feeling a little hungry. So I decided to give a shot at my take on the Myer’s + Chang classic. These amounts are just approximate… as I tend to “wing” it when pulling together a spontaneous dish....

Hmmm… what am I going to make for my big Inauguration Meal tonight???

Better head to Russo’s for some All American grub… though, since this entire election has been about “change” maybe I should make something out of the ordinary? I need to give this some thought…

Trader Joe’s Green Tea Bread with Pineapple Quince

Trader Joe’s Green Tea Bread with Pineapple Quince
The pineapple quince… exotic and fragrant but inedible when raw. When I bought it at Russo’s last week I thought for sure it would taste fine raw because it smelled so good. All the books warned me, but who were they to know anyway? I just had to taste this thing for myself. I cut it in...

A trick for boxed foils and wraps

A trick for boxed foils and wraps
I saw this on another blog (but can’t remember which one)… Do you hate it when you are trying to tear off a sheet of Saran Wrap or Foil and the entire roll pulls out of the box? Well, hate no more… here is a handy little trick for keeping the roll inside the box. I cannot believe I...
