Giving Thanks

As the Thanksgiving weekend draws to a close… I think about all the things I’m thankful for. Right up there toward the top of the list — is how thankful I am that I still have readers visiting my blog every day, despite the fact that I have not posted since October 3rd! In all honesty, I’ve barely posted much in the last 6 months or so. I’ve made excuses and I have thrown up random posts promising my return… but have failed at actually sticking to my word by getting back on track.

So now I’m back and I’m not making any excuses or any promises. I have terribly missed posting (read: writing about food) and have also missed cooking — as I haven’t been doing much of that lately either.

I just got home from our yearly Thanksgiving pilgrimage to Orlando. We didn’t eat at the usual hotel this year — which was the first time in more than 7 years. We ate at my in-laws house — but had a catered meal. It was okay. I wish it was home-cooked. It made me realized how much I miss cooking and how desperately I was ready for an amazing, carefully crafted, awe-inpsiring meal. All through Thanksgiving dinner, I kept thinking about how what we were eating just didn’t cut it. About how I’ve royally dropped the ball on my blog and how much I regret it. How I couldn’t wait to get home and cook. Cook something really good. I thought about the movie I watched on the plane coming down — Julie and Julia — and how if I was really on top of my game, I would have seen that movie MONTHS ago! And then I made a decision… that’s it… I NEED to start blogging again. So here I am.

I hope you all had a wonderful, safe and awe-inspiring Thanksgiving holiday.
